Forschungsvolontariat zur ableismussensiblen Erschließung von Videokunst im IMAI-Archiv
From the time it has existed, the IMAI Foundation has worked intensely to conserve and restore video tapes and media art installations.
At the time the foundation was established, it was already preserving 1,300 audiovisual works from decay and making them accessible to the public again. Thanks to funding from the State of North Rhine–Westphalia, the IMAI Foundation performed the function of networking headquarters and consulting center from 2010 to 2012 to support museums and collection in North Rhine–Westphalia to coordinate and implement necessary preservation measures in the field of media art. In a series of case studies, the IMAI Foundation cooperated with art historians, restorers, and video technicians to study exemplary procedures for the efficient preservation of media art installations.
