On the occasion of the founding of the IMAI Foundation in 2006, renowned artists released a limited and signed Video Still Edition to support the foundation’s work.

They selected visually striking stills from their videos and had them reproduced as large-format photographs.
This transferring of the medium of video to the medium of photography results in a new, autonomous form of aesthetic expression that explores not only the boundaries and transitions between moving and still image but also between analog and digital images. The atmospheric image quality of the large-format prints points in equal measure to the photographic moment and to the specific aesthetic of the video images on which they are based.
