With Fringe of the Fringe the Düsseldorf Inter Media Art Institute (IMAI) and the Institut für Medien- und Kulturwissenschaft of Heinrich-Heine-Universität in Düsseldorf are jointly confronting the challenges of archiving sub- and countercultures.
The IMAI Foundation is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary in 2021 and thus entering puberty in a metaphorical sense. That is a cause for celebration!
The video art channel IMAI-Play relies on a participatory presentation of the videos from the IMAI archive and invites users to compile, present and discuss their own video program.

Düsseldorf-based artist Ji Su Kang-Gatto has put together a screening program of works from the IMAI archive. In addition to her own videos, she is showing works by Róbert Olawuyi and Margot Zanni.

As part of the anniversary program HITTING PUBERTY - 15 Jahre Stiftung IMAI, young artists from the Foundation's distribution program present their own work relating to historical videos from the IMAI archive, which have been groundbreaking for their personal development.
The exhibition in the NRW Forum is open to visitors again.
