Darija Šimunović is a Bosnian-German cultural studies scholar and has been responsible for the video art collection and its distribution at the IMAI Foundation since 2010. She studied art studies, language, and communication as well as cultural information technology at the Universität Lüneburg (MA). From 2003 to 2005, she was a research intern for art and media at the Institut für Bildmedien of the ZKM—Zentrum für Kunst und Medien in Karlsruhe and at the same time active as an arts educator at the media museum there. After further professional stops at the Hartware MedienKunstVerein (HMKV) in Dortmund and at the Technische Universität Dortmund, she began working as a research associate at IMAI. At IMAI and as a freelance curator, she has organized numerous cultural projects, screenings, and art exhibitions. Her publications and research are dedicated to, among other things, the materiality of ephemeral art forms and the history of video art.
