Kat Lawinia Gorska studied art history and media studies at the Ruhr University Bochum. In 2018, she received her doctorate with her dissertation Claude Cahuns Poesie des Objekts. Über das infizierende Nachleben von Fotografien (2020, transcript Verlag). She is currently working on her postdoctoral project Materiality of Divergence. Experimental Film and Video as Media of Social Upheaval in Europe Between 1970 and 1980, which investigates the relationships between the practice of experimentation in film and video, the formation of film collectives, and feminist theory building. She is also the author of various theoretical texts on art, film, and photography as well as art critics. Since 2014 she has been writing dictionary entries for the Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon. As a freelance curator she curated exhibitions and film programs for Fringe Festival (London), Internationales Frauen Film Fest Dortmund + Köln, alpha nova & galerie futura (Berlin), Vierte Welt (Berlin), and Kindl – Centre for Contemporary Art (Berlin), among others. In 2015, she founded the experimental film and video platform attaque(e)r le visible.
