On 18: Erotic Videos from the Archive of the IMAI Foundation

A body, a sentence, a thing, or a movement is not simply erotic. Depending on how I view and treat the body, the sentence, the thing, or the movement, my relationship to it becomes an erotic one. Erotic is also a form of communication. Anne Schülke examines videos in the archive of the IMAI Foundation and determines how erotic the most recent history of media art can be for her. The selected videos make it possible to talk about gazes and boundaries, about the staging of male and female bodies, about fetishes and the object’s power to act, about stretching out and compressing time, about different dimensions of proximity and distance.
