Media Art between Historical Presentation Practice and Curatorial Staging

Where media artworks are concerned, the material alone is no longer a sufficient guarantee of authenticity, much less of permanent accessibility. It is only the use of machines to achieve the visibility and spatial exhibition of these analog and digital sources that brings us to the point of actually experiencing these artworks. The presentation of media artworks therefore requires a critical decision-making process in which their historical materiality is weighed against their present functionality and relevance.
