The IMAI Foundation

Between Archive and Collection

The IMAI Foundation oversees an extensive video art collection containing roughly fifteen hundred artworks as well as a large number of documentary recordings, most of which have not yet been described. In order to provide access to these holdings for curators, scholars, students, artists, and all those who might be interested, the long-term archiving and ongoing description of the works are as necessary as their public exhibition. IMAI’s distribution program seeks to motivate universities and educational institutions in particular to integrate video and media art more fully into academic discourse.
